No more excuses…
How are the promises you made to yourself at the beginning of the year playing out? February is often the month when we give up on our good intentions as it’s cold and miserable outside which makes it hard to stay motivated.
Remember, we were not made to sit, our bodies were made to move. And, once you get into a healthy habit of exercising, you won’t want to stop as you will feel so good.
Here are five tips to help get you moving and feeling good:
1. Embrace the outdoors
Simply getting outside and spending time in nature, has been shown to significantly boost mood and ultimately your wintertime health.
2. Do a home workout programme
There are plenty online programmes you can use to stay active. Try finding one you can enjoy and stick to such as yoga, lightweight resistance training or Pilates.
3. Join an indoor fitness class
Being stuck indoors doesn’t necessarily help keep you motivated, but if you can get out of the house and join and fitness class it can help you stay active and get some social time as well!
4. Wear a fitness tracker
Fitness trackers are a great way to stay on top of your fitness goals. Wearing a tracker can help you calculate how many steps you are doing per day and motivate you to do more if you find you aren’t staying as active as you would like.
5. Take the stairs
Whenever you get the chance take the stair option. This will get your heart rate up and your legs moving – an easy and free workout.
